What is matcha?
Matcha is a type of green tea, it is a special product in terms of properties and form. Matcha tea has the consistency of a finely ground powder. Matcha powder
is 100% ground green tea leaves. The cultivation of this tea is
shaded for about one month. The shade causes the leaves of such
crops have a darker green color and a rich, unique Umami flavor.
How to prepare matcha, step by step.
1. Measuring and sifting.
First, we measure 3/4 g of matcha powder and sift it to remove any possible lumps.
2. We heat the water.
Heat half a cup of water (i.e. approx. 60/70ml) to the appropriate temperature (70/80C).
3. Frothing/brewing matcha tea.
Pour the water into the bowl where we previously sifted the matcha powder.
Using a chasen or milk frother, mix the matcha powder with the water. This will create a foam on the surface and get rid of any possible lumps of matcha.
4. Serving, drinking tea.
Traditionally, the prepared matcha is served in a chawan bowl. Holding it with both hands, we drink the tea (a sign of respect).
