The Kyusu pot has a big impact on the taste of the brewed tea, so it is important to always keep it in good condition. We will show you how to care for the Kyusu. Basics of Japanese Kyusu Pottery Care

How to clean Kyusu with baking soda?

We recommend using baking soda to clean Japanese ceramics. It cleans effectively, removes stains and refreshes the ceramics.

  1. Boil enough water in a pot to fit a tea pot.
  2. Once boiling, turn off the heat and mix 2 tablespoons of baking soda per liter of hot water.
  3. Put all the ceramic elements in. The jug, lid and tea strainer.
  4. First, leave in the solution for 30 to 40 minutes. (Adjust soaking time depending on the degree of dirtiness.)
  5. Once removed, wash it gently with a soft cloth, sponge, or toothbrush.
  6. Wash off the baking soda solution thoroughly, preferably with lukewarm water.
  7. After cleaning, dry thoroughly before storing.

When brewing Sencha or other Japanese green tea, it is important to always use clean ceramic.
